Baleal Surf Camp tries to make a contribution to this important cause by promoting beach clean-up activities, involving our staff, students and campers in the cleaning work, mainly whenever we take our weekly surfing trips to deserted beaches. See the video below with an example from October 2009.
Please, avoid plastic! Watch this video and see why.

The latest activity was in 2010's spring...

Baleal Surf Camp in Peniche, in association with the Surfrider foundation - Ocean Initiatives, other local surf camps and anonymous volunteers promoted last Saturday March 20th a beach cleanup at Praia do Baleal Campismo in Baleal Peniche Portugal.

The initiative gathered around 30 people all emboyed with the spirit to help and the right attitude towards fighting one of the shamefull consequences of our human activities, the production of waste and the careless disposal of it everywhere.
An hour or two is what everyone gave from their Saturday afternoon, and amazingly we did not have to spread more tham 400m around our meeting point to fillup the plastic bags we had. Thanks everyone.

The year before Baleal Surf Camp and the Surfrider Foundation took action on November 28th 2009, a photo below, see more at Camp News.

CARBON OFFSETTING
We know that every time we fly, we are creating more Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and contributing to global warming. We realise that as a travel business, we cannot cancel out traveling, so in addition to our other measures, we offset 110% of the carbon emissions of our staff flights. We encourage our clients to do the same. It is affordable and easy to do!
