World title show down at Supertubos, Peniche? - Wednesday, September 28, 2011|
Who will win this time?
Kelly Slater 10x World Champion and phenomena Owen Right stepped away from the pack and head to a man on man world title showdown!
This one on one "battle" kicked off in Teahupoo, in the end the North American came out of the barrels with a big smile. Then the tour headed for the Big Apple, this time Owen said to Slater, "sorry, this one's is mine!"
Then at Lower Trestles, the crowd saw the two men again battling in the final. This time Slater yelled, "hold on to your horses boy, its 2011 and I want to have 11 titles in my résumé”.
We wondered what he meant? Well it’s easy; if you don't know we explain: it's been 20 years since Slater won the World tour for the first time, back in 1992. He's going for the 11th title, just put it together and there you go: you have 2011… It's up to Owen to spoil the “numbers game”...

Huge storm follows tsunami in Mentawai - Sunday, October 31, 2010|
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 31 October, 2010 :
A massive storm has moved into the Mentawai region making tsunami relief work even more difficult - and life more miserable for the local villagers who are living in makeshift shelters.
The storm is forecast to last up to four days and is creating hazardous ocean conditions - for both the 150-kilometre crossing from Padang and access to the isolated villages. The latest report from the government command post in Sikakap, the main town in the Southern Mentawai, says that 23,087 people are now either displaced from their homes or affected by the tsunami.
The death toll from the earthquake and tsunami is now more than 400 and it is rising with more than 300 people missing. A further 270 people are seriously injured Today SurfAid’s Emergency Response team in Padang made the decision to hire the largest boat in the Mentawai fleet, the Indies Trader IV, so that we can continue operations in the worsening ocean conditions. From Rip Curl Pro Search at Puerto Rico
Kelly Slater (USA), 38, former nine-time ASP World Champion and current ASP World No. 1, could potentially clinch an unprecedented 10th ASP World Title in Puerto Rico, and moved one step closer to that goal today with an emphatic Round 1 victory.
Slater took out the round’s top honors for a combined heat total of a 16.27 out of a possible 20, with some impressive tube-riding and high-risk surfing.
“The board’s glassed pretty light but it feels good,” Slater said. “I’ve had it at about four events this year so it’s been working well for me. My first wave out there, I just kind of rode it to the end to see where the sections were breaking. After that, I felt like I had it pretty well sussed.”

Living legends at Baleal Surf Camp - Monday, May 31, 2010| One distinctive characteristic of a true champion is to stay humble and true to your character, regardless of what life brings your way.
These men are connected with surfing history and will always be. They are all former world champions and pipe masters. They inspired generations of surfers and are all connected with milestones of the sport itself.
Here at Baleal Surf Camp we were fortunate enough to spend some moments with 3 living legends and I have to say that they lived up to the expectation.
We could talk a bit about life, surf, waves, family as easily as they could enjoy a fine Peniche home cooked seafood soup or the Portuguese unavoidable cod fish speciality.
CHAMPS BBQ at Baleal Surf Camp - Monday, May 24, 2010|
Together with our sponsor Quiksilver we are happy to announce that next Sunday will be a special day as we are going to host three very special guests here at Baleal Surf Camp.
Believe it or not we’re going to have with us no more than Jeff Hakman, Mark Richards and Tom Carroll…
Jeff Hakman, was the unofficial World Champion in 1974 and 1975, the first winner of the Banzai Pipeline Masters and founder of Quiksilver, known as “Mr. Sunset” a reference to his great ability to surf the legendary spot in Oahu Hawaii.
Mark Richards, 4 times ASP World Champion 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1982, Pipeline Master in 1980, known as the “Wounded Seagull” for his unmistakable bottom turn style and also for his revolutionary approach to surfing Hawaii’s great spots like Pipeline, Sunset or Off the Wall.
Tom Carroll, 2 times ASP world champion 1983 and 1984 and 3 times Banzai Pipeline Master in 1987, 1990 and 1991, still holds another title for the first and only surfer to have made a full snap under the lip at no less than a legitimate Pipeline 12`` wall.
Quiksilver is presenting a clothing line with Mark Richard’s signature. The event is followed by a BBQ at Baleal Surf Camp where guests can also try one of Peniche’s other specialties besides the waves..the fine fresh fish from the same Atlantic Ocean!

The spring starts with the right attitude...
Baleal Surf Camp in Peniche, in association with the Surfrider foundation - Ocean Initiatives, other local surf camps and anonymous volunteers promoted last Saturday March 20th a beach cleanup at Praia do Baleal Campismo in Baleal Peniche Portugal.
The initiative gathered around 30 people all emboyed with the spirit to help and the right attitude towards fighting one of the shamefull consequences of our human activities, the production of waste and the careless disposal of it everywhere.
An hour or two is what everyone gave from their Saturday afternoon, and amazingly we did not have to spread more tham 400m around our meeting point to fillup the plastic bags we had. Thanks everyone.

Surfrider Foundation Ocean Initiative with Baleal Surf Camp - Thursday, December 10, 2009|
Baleal Surf Camp teamed with the Surfrider Foundation and with the help of our staff and some other volunteers set about the task to clean one of the beaches north of Baleal next to the limit of Peniche district. The action took place last 28.11.2009 and it's included in the local Ocean Initiatives. It has provided the chance for some of the people in the area to participate in an activity that's both rewarding and inspiring for the younger. As surfers having the chance to give something back to the Ocean should be a life moto. Collecting all the trash on the beach that the sea has thown back at us is one of the ways to see what we're all doing wrong and try to make a little difference.
Owen Wright: Injury Update - Tuesday, November 17, 2009|
From ASP's What's On Tour: Owen Wright entered the 2009 Rip Curl Pro Search Portugal as one of the most feared wildcards of the season. Australia’s Surfing Life (ASL) caught up with the kid who will be king recently to talk about his rehab. For the full report click here or the image
Pagtrick Gudauskas talks about Supertubos and the Rip Curl Pro Search 2009 - Sunday, November 15, 2009|
From www.globalsurfnews.com :
(...) FSM : The Rip Curl Pro Search Portugal is your third contest on the Dream Tour this year, what's your opinion on this event ?
PG : The Rip Curl pro was amazing, just seeing how they run the whole thing, it's the Big Show! The crowds were the best thing ever, probably my favorite part about being at those contests. The portuguese people are the most enthusiastic humans for surfing i have ever seen, it was a bummer to see Tiago loose early, because he would have brought even more people to watch and cheer exciting stuff to compete and surf in front of them all!
FSM : What do you think about Supertubos wave ?
PG : Supertubos is a classic wave. it's thumpy and hollow with tons of energy. I absolutely love that style of wave, so i was thrilled to catch it bigger and good. (...) For the full article click here.
